14 Bachelorette Photoshoot Ideas for an Unforgettable Day
Table of Contents
I am OBSESSED with making memories, and when it comes to anything wedding related, those memories have to last lifetimes. Yes, lifetimes – plural.
Our grandkids need to be sitting in the attic, flicking through vintage iPads fawning over how beautiful we were back in the day, and laughing at how we ever managed to take great pictures with such outdated technology.
Bachelorette parties, along with the bridal shower, are one of those moments that need to be etched into our history. It’s a big day. Great images with our best friends and the bride tribe, spending quality time in the great outdoors, doing fun activities, or swanning around rooftop bars.
Not all of us are insta-influencers with photography as a skill we could genuinely add to our CV though. So, I have compiled a bumper list of bachelorette photoshoot ideas, that are easy to set up and require as little or as much prep as you want to include.
Professional, Semi-Professional, or DIY? That is the Question.
Most of us will opt for DIY setups, especially if we’re trying to keep costs down for the guests. If you have the funds though, no one ever regrets a professional photographer. And these days Semi Professionals are becoming all the rage.
Professional
Having someone who knows how to get the good angles is worth its weight in gold and not needing to worry about getting everybody included is priceless.
You can opt for a traditional, local photographer, or a bachelorette photographer, who follows you for the day capturing candid moments, or include a fun bachelorette photography session as one of the activities for the day.
Semi Professional
Semi-Professional photographers are becoming more popular these days for, weddings, bachelorettes, and events and don’t include the professional price tag.
With content creation becoming mainstream, there’s a whole new market for more natural-looking content. Hiring an aspiring content creator, photographer, videographer, or influencer, can save your purse strings while still getting bucketloads in return.
No they won’t (or may not) be professionally edited but with all the new-fangled tech and editing apps, we don’t need it.
It’s also worth remembering that professional and semi-professionals will know the latest trends, insta-worthy spots, natural poses, and how to get the best photos even if there is severe weather.
Bachelorette Photoshoot Ideas
DIY Photo Studio
People are going to take pictures (and we’re definitely going to ask them to send them to the group chat a day or two after the party). Photo stations are a great way to get fun pictures of the whole group and have guests do it themselves. It’s also a great way to make it feel like a professional photoshoot.
What You’ll Need:
A backdrop of your choosing, glitter, flowers, balloons, etc
An old or spare phone
How to set it up:
Hang your backdrop in a set area of the house, AirBnB, function room, or even in your own home and create a photoshoot area. Connect the clicker to the phone and set it to camera mode. Lay out the props for people to use and maybe a cute set of instructions.
People can come in pairs or groups, stand in front of the camera, and take pictures of themselves with the clicker, that will automatically save to the phone for further use. A DIY photo session, without any of the insecurity, and gives the maid of honor one less thing to think about.
The main thing to remember is to keep the phone charged. We don’t need to lose power just as we’re about to strike the perfect pose.
360 PHOTO-BOOTH
These bad boys are all the rage and could be a great alternative option. You’ve probably seen them at marketing events, weddings, I think they even show up at celebrity events.
The 360 photo booth is a platform for 2-3 people to stand on where a camera on a rod circles the people and records them dancing, laughing, messing, posing and just having a good time.
All you need is the 360 booth, which you can find on Amazon or you can rent one for a few hours.
OLD SCHOOL POLAROID
Maybe it’s just Gen X and Millennials but Polaroids are a love affair. Vintage, cute, and instant printing, they’re the perfect way to collect individual photos from the day (and they’re so much fun to play with).
Leave them dotted around the venue or have a basket on arrival. You could even ask guests to write a love note or marriage tip on the back, so the bride-to-be has something sentimental to keep for life.
Bachelorette Party Photoshoot Ideas
BALLOONS AND BUBBLY
Create a fun and festive atmosphere by filling the room with balloons and popping open a bottle of bubbly. Have the bride and her closest friends pose with the balloons and glasses for some playful and colorful photos of your bach photoshoot.
FLOWER CROWNS
Purchase or make some flower crowns for the group to wear and pose with. This will create a whimsical and romantic vibe and some great images.
MATCHING ROBES, PAJAMAS, OUTFITS, OR SWIMWEAR
Have everyone wear matching robes in a fun and bold color. This will make for some great shots, especially if you have a larger group, and also create a cohesive look for the bride and her bridesmaids. (It also makes it easier to spot your crew if you’re doing a walking tour, or milling around a rooftop terrace).
We do not need to lose people.
CONFETTI FUN
Purchase or create some confetti and have the group throw it in the air for some fun and playful photos. If you want to push this even further a better way to level up your bachelorette party photo shoot, could be to use colored smoke bombs or sparklers.
Any of the above would make for some great photos, maybe just plan them for the right time of day. Keep the smoke bombs for the last night and the sparklers for late evening to get the most out of your photoshoot sessions.
BEACH VIBES
If you’re having a bachelorette bash near the beach, take advantage of the beautiful scenery by taking some photos with the ocean in the background. The photo opportunities by the beach are beyond measure.
Have the group wear matching swimsuits or cover-ups in the bride’s preferred color scheme, for a cohesive look. Get some shots by the beach bar, in the water or rolling around in the sand (although maybe leave the boudoir shoot to the bride).
CITY SLICKERS
If you’re celebrating in a city, take advantage of the urban landscape and take photos in front of local murals or street art, the most popular landmark (especially if it’s a destination bachelorette), or unique buildings.
MUGSHOTS
Bachelorette mugshots are super cute. Take the set of photos before the party detailing the crime each person is most likely to commit, or when hungover with the crime they actually did.
NEON LIGHTS
If you’re celebrating at night, buy neon lights or glow sticks and take some edgy and colorful photos. Get the group to put their heads together and you’re guaranteed they’ll come up with some fun ideas about how to play with the lights.
VINTAGE THEME
Have the bride and her bridesmaids dress up in vintage-inspired outfits and take photos with retro props like record players, old suitcases, or vintage cameras.
POOL PARTY
If you’re having a pool party, take some playful and summery photos in or around the pool. You can also add some fun pool floats or inflatable props for a quirky touch.
FLORAL WALL
Create a backdrop of flowers or foliage for some romantic and dreamy photos. Adding some fairy lights or candles could be a good idea to create a magical touch.
Conclusion
These amazing memories of her “last fling” will last a lifetime, that’s a given with the people you’re bringing. The photo shoot just adds to the fun.
Ensure you ask your party, after the fact, to send any and all pictures they took and spend an evening with the bridal party creating a scrapbook or photobook for another memorable experience.
Or, I think if you’re not going to create a photo-book with the bride-to-be it’s the perfect gift to give after the fact.
I hope this list has inspired you to add something extra to the day. If you have anything to add to the list please leave it in the comments. And of course, if you used any of the ideas, please send them on, I live for great bachelorette parties and great pics.
